Some of the earliest memories are of wishing to have the knowledge and tools to heal others around me. In my early teens, I began taking classes on herbal medicine around town and read anything I could find on natural remedies. There were so many sleepless nights that I spent devouring information that became a lifelong fascination with healing. All of it was interesting to me, but Chinese Medicine was my favorite because it was a complete medical system that incorporated all of the pieces I was studying. At 15, I tried to apply to acupuncture school, not fully grasping that it was a Master's Degree program. With that goal in mind, I finished the last 2 years of high school and went off to the University of Texas where I completed two Bachelor's Degrees and graduated with honors.
After graduation, I felt a deep calling to give a year of my life to service. I found the perfect opportunity with Americorps National Service in Colorado where I served as a birth coach and medical translator, learning from both midwives and doctors. I taught lectures in Spanish on pregnancy and childbirth and had the honor of helping many underprivileged women who would have otherwise been alone or had no one to translate for them through their births. These were my first patient encounters, and experiences I will never forget.
When my term of service was complete, I began the 4 year Chinese Medicine Master's Degree that I had dreamt of since my teens. During the last year, my husband Justin and I welcomed our first son, Jake, born at home with the loving care of a midwife. I graduated from AOMA Graduate School of Integrative Medicine the next year in 2007 and began my private practice. In 2008, we welcomed our second son, Kai, also born at home. In 2013, I began AOMA's Doctoral Program and began teaching Master's level clinical courses. I discovered a deep love of teaching and continue to offer private lectures on various health topics and meditation experiences to the public. I completed the doctoral program in 2016 with a focus on integrative medicine and fasting as a means of treating pain and chronic illness.
My goal is to be a one stop shop for all things related to holistic healing. This includes acupuncture, microcurrent, cupping, nutritional counseling, herbal remedies, supplements, vitamins and running labs as needed. I see only one patient at a time because so much happens in each session. We may be treating back pain, depression and allergies all at once for example, so we need plenty of time. I have an herbal pharmacy here and patients are always surprised that there are natural remedies for just about everything, so please ask. It's important to me that when my patients come, they feel that they are entering a calm, beautiful space designed for healing with the time and attention they need to both understand and be treated for their condition. Most importantly, they should leave here a lighter, happier and more pain-free than when they walked in. I ask of those who are interested in working with me that you come when you are truly ready to commit to your healing. It will take effort from both of us and I am all in and have been since I was a kindergartner sitting in a patch of of mint leaves wondering if it could cure anything.
